Angelo Caliendo was born in Naples in 1982. After studying Architecture at the University of Naples Federico II and at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-La Villette, in 2007 he moved to Rome to attend the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – Scuola Nazionale di Cinema, where he specialized in cinematography under the direction of Giuseppe Rotunno (AIC, ASC).

He works as a cinematographer and camera operator on film and television productions in Italy and France, where he lived for twelve years.

Alongside his work in film and audiovisual production, he has developed an activity in education, designing and directing film and photography workshops in public schools in the Parisian suburbs, particularly within the framework of the « La culture et l’art au collège » programme of the Département de la Seine-Saint-Denis. His background in architecture has also led him to conceive these workshops as spaces for exploring the social and urban realities of the suburbs through the perspective of the young people who live there.

He currently teaches Cinematography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, in the Cinema, Photography and Television programme and in the Scenography, Cinema and TV programme.

He is president of the A'STORIA Cultural Association, where he also oversees the scientific direction of its educational projects.
